The Fresno Center proudly kicked off the 2025–2026 Hmong New Year with inspiring opening ceremonies led by our President and CEO, Pao Yang, setting the tone for a season of reflection, gratitude, and renewed hope. As families, elders, youth, and community leaders gathered together, the celebration served as a powerful reminder of our shared history and the strength of our community. It was a meaningful moment to honor how far we have come and to welcome the year ahead with unity and optimism.
The Hmong New Year is a centuries-old tradition rooted in our agrarian origins in Southeast Asia. Historically, it marked the completion of the harvest season and the beginning of a new cycle of life. After months of hard work, families came together to give thanks, honor ancestors, and celebrate renewal through traditional clothing, music, ceremonies, courtship games, and storytelling. The Hmong New Year symbolizes gratitude, balance, and the passing of culture and values from one generation to the next, traditions that continue to thrive today.
At The Fresno Center, celebrating the Hmong New Year is a reflection of our commitment to cultural preservation, empowerment, and community connection. As we step into a new year filled with possibility, we extend our heartfelt wishes to everyone near and far. Happy Hmong New Year. May this year bring health, prosperity, and continued unity to you and your loved ones. Here’s to honoring our roots, embracing new beginnings, and moving forward together. Cheers to 2026. 🎉
